Edwin and Edward
These two are halflings born to parents who saw Christ as children. (That makes them third generation.) Edward is outgoing and joins the protectors of the village (against wild animals). Edwin is fascinated by language and learns as much as she can.
Before Edwin could read, she asked her papa how to read. Before Edwin could write, she asked her mama to teach her to write. Her parents asked what her stories were, but she didn’t want to tell them. She just wanted to write them. Once she started writing, she didn’t share her stories with anyone. She kept them in her closet in a secret place. (Not very secret, but secret enough for a child.)
Around puberty, Edwin started getting visions of other people, so she wrote them down. That is how it starts. Again, she never tells anyone about it. Part of her thinks they are more stories, but part of her knows they are from outside herself. She sees visions of her neighbors, but not of her family.
Edwin doesn’t interact well with others. She’s always in her head, daydreaming about some story or another. Because of this, she becomes known as being “crazed.” And since she’s a writer, they call her “The Crazed Writer.” That is how her title came to be. Edward tries to get people to like his sister, but she doesn’t care what people think. She only cares about her stories. Her parents try to get her to change, but she doesn’t care to learn anything else. She only cares about her stories.
Edwin stops aging in young adulthood. Of course, no one notices for a long time. Edward notices eventually. And he realizes he isn’t aging, either. The twins have been blessed with unnatural lifespans. Edwin is tasked to be the keeper of the histories, while Edward must be a protector of the land. Edward travels the world, finding adventure, while Edwin holes herself up in their family home. Neither needs sustenance anymore, which means Edwin doesn’t need to earn money to buy food, and Edward can help people without expecting a reward.
